Child Maintenance Advice Needed Please!!

Can somebody help? My request for the collect and pay service has been authorised through the child maintenance service. Prior to this I had been receiving a specific amount each month on the 30th. The letter I have received confirming collect and pay states that this will begin on 29th April 2022.
What happens to the money I am owed for 30th (28th) of February and 30th March. Is my child’s father expected to still pay these amounts to me directly? Or will he get away with not paying?

Thank you

It will be added into whats owed. So if you usually get £50 a week. It will go up by x amount depending upon the number of weeks left in your assessment period. (12 months from when claim started).

It is confusing I tried to keep track of mine with so many missed payments etc I had to give up and just trust the system which is hard as they are so rubbish. Saying that. Whenever I've called they have been really helpful. I did keep an eye on the on line statement but stopped after a short while because it just upset me I'm owed so much.

Hope the deduction of earnings goes smoothly. Be prepared for a wait. If for example they get a payment on 30th April. It takes some time to get to you because if he works for a big employer they get one big lump sum and have to figure out who has paid what and then allocate it.

Fingers crossed ex doesn't do what mine did and changed jobs every so often or has periods of being self employed contractor. 🙄

How long did it take to get from when you applied, to when you got the letter saying it's been authorised, if you don't mind me asking OP? I've just applied to CMS as my Ex thinks £300 per month maintenance is enough for 2 DC, despite him earning £60k!

I applied in the October and direct pay was meant to start in the December. Which he didn't do. So went to collect and pay. First payment came in the March. He then left that job and went self employed.

This was pre Covid though.

Thanks unicorns, if mine takes similar it should start in April. I applied for the one where they take it straight from his pay, as I can guarantee he won't pay anything "the government tells him to". He's so angry that I've applied to CMS that he's already stopped paying even the £300.

These types of men are disgusting.

Sadly yes. But nothing ever changes. I remember 40 years ago my mum going to court over child support and yet here I am 40 years on still fighting the rubbish system. They should be vilified for not providing for their own children and money taken from their bank accounts. I'm resigned to it now. If I get anything it is a bonus.
