What should I do on New Years Eve

I will be spending my 1st NYE on my own apart from DS age 9 and 4.

Anybody got any good suggestions of what to do to make it a bit more exciting or should I just treat it as a normal evening and go to bed at 11pm?

Come on here and have a MN party!
I have to go to a crappy party in our local pub and would rather stay in and go to bed. I hate New Year!

SHout I really would party party party, I would if I wasn't working .

I made the effort to go on a christmas staff night out this year that I have never bothered with before, but decide I will be much more sociable at work aand elsewhere, (exH is my boss but he wasn't going, just a local do, lots of bitching )

All three close neighbours and their family are away. I am overseas so my family and friends are in the UK. Others are in couples or with kids and are doing their own thing.

With time difference I could celebrate UK New year at 8pm here on Mumsnet and still be in bed for 11pm.

My exh is going to be in New York at a house party. Grrrrrh

Planning pizza and yummy wine and a girlie film here. Might be with a friend, might not. Kids still away. As long as you have no expectations (I don't), it'll be fine. I was lonelier in my last relationship with the DCs' Dad than I am now.

Well, that wasn't actually any help was it - sorry . Why not plan something special for either the 31st or the First - a trip out, a visit to the cinema, a walk, a new game with your two? Celebrate in your own way.

im spending a few hours with my boyfriend but then he is going to his mum and dads about 10pm as his boys are staying there so il be at home on my own from 10pm. My ds is at his great aunts for the night so wont even have him with me!

was going to spend the night decorating my ds's bedroom ready for when he got home in the morning but i cant afford to do that now

So il be doing nothing but il try to stay awake until midnight.

Going to get up early in the morning to go for my very first run as part of my new years resolution to get into running

1066andallthat · 28/12/2007 18:57

Juicy - I jog and it works for me . Do you have anywhere beautiful to run?

Can't you treat yourself somehow - nice bubble bath, fab book/mag from the library, a good dvd that DSs aren't interested in?

Thank you all for your thoughts and suggestions.
I do feel a bit ungrateful 1066, I'm living in Bermuda so there are lots of lovely places to run.It is just a bit lonely in the evening.However.....

I did a good Samaritan bit and offered to take my friends daughter for a sleep over so herself and hubby can have a good NYE before they move to Europe on secondment.
She leaves Bermuda next week and gave me her club membership to use whilst she is away so now I have access to a 5* hotel pool and beach. NY day could be wonderful just pray it doesn't rain.

Running in the rain is good and five star facilities are even better! What goes round .... so, hopefully, your turn will be in 2008.

lou33 · 29/12/2007 00:59

i have been invited to 3 different parties, but i will most likely stay in

Scramble · 29/12/2007 22:29

Well I am working anyway, so I know exactly what I will be doing. Not to bad a rate of pay so I just keep thinking everyhour how much I have earned, goes towarxds paying for christmas presents.
