Anyone spending NYE home with the kids?

First year home 'alone' in many years. I've never enjoyed patting on NYE, but EX-H played board games with the kids and had party food as a family.

This year he's out with his mates and I'm home with the kids and I suppose it brings it home that we're not a family anymore.

Anyone want to raise a glass with me if still awake at midnight?!

Yes I'll be at home with DD.

Idontlikeworms · 31/12/2021 13:57

Yes and I can't wait. I love NYE with my sons 😊

It doesn't normally bother me being home at new year but Xmas was cancelled due to covid so it seems even harder to spend new year isolated as well.

RedCandyApple · 31/12/2021 14:20

Yes but I do every year anyway, we usually watch the fireworks on tv so will be disappointing not doing that but Oh well 🤷‍♀️

Do you mind me asking how old they are and what sort of things you do?

This has been such a rubbish year it feels like it would be good to bid it a find farewell!

I’ll be home with my teens - may or may not be awake. Always used to sit up with DP and at least raise a glass before going to bed, or if we weren’t together we’d text at midnight. This year we split up just before Xmas so it will be just me and the DCs. Might play some games and watch a film.

Have been invited out with a friend and some other people I haven’t met, but can’t face being sociable yet so have politely declined. I know I’d probably enjoy it if I went but I’m close to tears all the time and just want to hibernate tbh.

Enjoy it when it last. I am on my own for nye kids are with ex, feel very lonely

LaMariposa · 31/12/2021 16:54

Home with kids here. Takeaway pizza ordered, fizz chilling. Going to watch a film, children will go to bed as normal, and so will we. Just another quiet Friday night.

Me
I plan on having an early night, kids are watching a film on Disney plus
Happy new year for when it comes

onedayoranother · 31/12/2021 17:27

Doing what I always do -watch a film with kids (though just one as my 18 year old doesn't live with us - even he has told me it's a chilled night in with a mate). No family nearby and all my friends are tired out after entertaining family at Christmas, or have covid, or just aren't bothered.

gogohm · 31/12/2021 19:20

Thankfully we are well (escaped the covid so far, though "hoping" for an extra weeks "holiday" next week Grin) so are heading out, 2 kids have abandoned us and one is having a virtual party (go figure) with friends, I have her the rest of the prosecco

I've never been a fan of new year. When the kids were smaller I'd gone home with them whilst ex-dp was down the pub. 4 year in our own. Can't say it's been easy. They are older now and want to stay up. I've embraced it as much as I can. We have been bowling. And out to eat. Going to watch a film. Nibbles and chill out now. And count my blessings. They will be off down the pub soon enough.

Addictinsane · 31/12/2021 19:49

I'm on my own tonight, DD is asleep. I can't wait to watch trash TV and eat rubbish

StarCourt · 31/12/2021 19:53

Yep just me and DD

Breastfeedingworries · 31/12/2021 19:55

I’m ironically home alone without my dd!

If anyone had read my previous thread it’s because I’m poorly. Glad of the break tbf but am gutted I’m not out enjoying my child free time. Life’s funny. Watching Netflix in bed and still can’t drink or eat anything lol

AthenaPopodopolous · 31/12/2021 20:07

Yup. I’ll be reading The Nutcracker to my little ones and starting a new tradition. They love this story and like the ballet Upitube clips and stories. They’re in nursery, three and four and the magic has really happened this year for them.
I’m old and done now so. I NY partying for me. Got a lovely bottle of Pink Prosecco in the fridge and some M&S reduced salmon and iced Christmas cake to enjoy.
I’ve lost nearly two dress sizes since October by walking more and eating less so I hope to get fitter and healthier in 2022.
Happy Hogmanay everyone!

MsJaneAusten · 31/12/2021 20:08

Just about to eat take out with the kids then pack them off to bed. I’ll raise a glass with you at midnight Wine

SpringRainbow · 31/12/2021 20:13

We usually spend New Years at home anyway to be honest, so it’s nothing unusual for us anyway.

I will probably have a nap before midnight though!
