PirateInaPeartree · 20/12/2007 10:40

It was one of the days I was off my face with the flu, and I went over by about 20 mins, so my own fault.

Didn't think, didn't realsie they had cctc in there. Didn't see any signs, just didn't realise at all.I am so angry with myself.

If you were in their shop all that time, then appeal. They can't fine you for parking in their car park while you shop in their shop ffs. And if they don't refund your money, tell them you are going to the papers.

PeachyHasAFiggyPudInTheOven · 20/12/2007 10:42

Go back and check for signs- if they may have been obscured then complain

otherwise write, explain you wrere ill so took longer, enclose copy of receipt to prove you shopped there

And never darken their doors again

PirateInaPeartree · 20/12/2007 10:46

I know its a crap excuse, but I have only been driving since July, and yes I do have fully functioning eyes, but I just didn't realsie places did that sort of thing.

You can have a 2 hr stay there, and its the first time I have parked there. I have no recipets.

Gonnahave to put it donw to stupid exp.

do you have to pay after 2 hours then? i've never seen a pay machine at our toys r us.

RudolphtherednoseEANDHdeer · 20/12/2007 11:03

this happened to a dh friend at b&q (the car park is right by the local market so you are only allowed to park for 30minutes on market days) anyway friend was ordering kitchen wnent back to car found ticket and went home. Friends wife went ballistic phoned the store manager up, then went down with her order form and the ticket was cancelled so it may be worth a go proving you were there and purchased stuff

edam · 20/12/2007 11:04

It is NOT your own fault, you are NOT stupid and you MUST complain vociferously. You were spending money in their store, FGS!

And if you didn't see signs, they can't have been very clear then, can they?

EricScrooge · 20/12/2007 11:08

You can get out of these things if you feel you have a case. If you were genuinely shopping in their store then this would be no problem to overturn. I would have done this if i was the manager.

I used to be a manager in a Supermarket that had parking restrictions very dutifully enforced. We had a two hour limit which was decided to be plenty of time to do a supermarket shop. (Shopping centres or stores in which a lot of time would be spent browsing would be a different limit of course)

It was introduced because of the huge numbers of selfish people who would park their cars all day or overnight in the spaces right next to the store. Customers were always complaining so we introduced it after listening to them. It was enforced by an outside contractor who was very good at it and he kept the car park clear for shoppers.

He used to get all manner of angry people complaining (most were just annoyed but had no case) but we used to let some off for genuine reasons.

If you haven't got a receipt - get a bank statement with the date, shop and amount.
