... and someone mentioned I need permission from DS father but he has no contact. DS has his surname (different to mine) so do I just take DS birth cert. with me proving I'm his Mum? Thanks for taking time to read Smile

Yes it’s true you do need his permission if he is on the BC I’ve heard of people going and not being stopped though but legally you do need it unless you have a cao?

If you are NC with the father and he is on the BC, then you will have to apply to court for permission if there isn't a CAO in place.

If you ring your local family court, they will probably tell you what evidence and forms you need.

I've taken my ds abroad several times. Never been asked about it when we've travelled.

I've travelled with my children several times over the last few years. I take their birth certificate. No one checks flying out. It's always coming back. But it is a legal requirement

Slightly off topic but I was asked to provided written proof for ex to renew our daughters passport. Maybe rules have changed?
