Hi ! I’m a single mum of an 8 year old boy.
Current situation is I split from his father June last year. He’s an alcoholic & he’s currently living with his parents as he has no job, lost his license for drink-driving and has withdrawal seizures if he doesn’t have a drink. He’s also informed me he has 5 years to live as he’s dying of cancer which I’m unsure whether it’s true or not.
Its likely that he will take me to court as he wants more access. Would I be able to get legal aid if I don’t have a mortgage ?my Parents released the equity on their house to help me out and buy him out when we split & so we can stay in our home when we split.
I have my own small business & I’m on universal credit and don’t earn a lot of money about £800 a month.
He pays no maintenance.
I’m really concerned about the court costs. I literally have no savings but because I own my own home I’m unsure where I stand with legal aid.
