Paying rent in advance and claiming universal credit

I am going through a separation and trying to get the tenancy in my sole name. My landlord wants three months rent upfront which I can somewhat get together. Does anybody know if because it might say in the new contract I paid three months in advance if I will be able to claim the housing back from universal credit?

I'm entitled and would qualify every month normally but because I would've paid in advance will the housing see that as oh she doesn't need help as she's paid already but I'm literally borrowing from friends to get this together which I need to pay them back so I don't want to be the one that loses out because I don't get the money back.

I tried to move out and rent elsewhere not asking for upfront but because of my income and not having a guarantor I don't qualify affordability so landlords don't to know so at the moment this is my only option.

Thank you in advance for your replies x

Contact your local council housing department. They will help you with one month's rent upfront or more. As long as you can prove to UC that this money went on rent it shouldn't be an issue. If you don't have any savings over £16,000 . I'm not sure if you would get the money back. I don't see why not?

Would you not get a fixed amount from the claim date so wouldn't really matter if paid in adbance?

Not sure but it's worth asking if it works the same as childcare as in, you can submit the invoice / receipt at the time you pay for it and then it goes back in on the month it would be due?

Can you get a new tendency agreement dated on the day you pay 3 months in advance along with a receipt? If you can provide proof they should help.

Give them a call tomorrow?
