CMS change of address but we haven’t moved

I’m confused as to where this could have come from. Had a letter from CMS saying they have been notified that my DDs address has changed and to get in touch as it could affect child maintenance or child benefit.

DD is 15 always lived with me and we have lived at the same address for years so I’m a bit baffled.

Her father through his own decision and issues has no contact with her and hadn’t done for nearly two years and prior to that it was sporadic. It’s probably been about 7 years since she’s stayed overnight and I don’t even know where he lives anymore.

Could it be him? I can’t understand why he’d try and claim to anyone that she lives with him unless they are trying to swindle benefits which wouldn’t surprise me.

Is there anything else that could trigger that? Maybe it’s just a mistake.

I had a difficult relationship with her father so this has triggered me off worrying

My sisters ex did this claimed the child was living with him but he actually had involvement in the child’s life, as that’s not the case I would guess it was a mistake but contact them anyway

I’m trying to contact them but it’s proving impossible at the moment. Phone lines are 10 til 3 Monday to Friday and working full time and needing to use my phone for working from home I’m struggling to be able to sit on hold and get through

I heard you can message them through the online portal? Won’t get an instant response but might be easier than trying to call. I’ve never used it so I’m not sure how it works though, think you need your reference number to sign up

Thanks I’ll try that. I set up the online thing when I got the letter because I’ve never used it before. Didn’t see about messaging them but ideally I want to speak to someone to see if they’ll tell me what it’s supposedly been changed too?

I don’t even get any child maintenance and I never have. I set it up donkeys ago to try and get him to pay but he’s a twat who works cash in hand and always pleads poverty. I gave up a long time ago to get him to pay anything.

So it has seemed out the blue, on the online login it shows contact through calls and letters not sure if it would show someone else calling. But I think he wouldn’t dare contact them as he owes them money from years ago. So it might have been triggered by another area
