Biting your tongue in front of the children

Does anyone have any tips for this when their father is being an absolute cock and trying to remain poker faced in front of the children as to so otherwise would upset them?

I’m not a very zen person and am a ‘wear your heart on your sleeve’ type so am not a natural at hiding emotions.

I try to "change the channel" in my head and focus on the good things in my life - such as, if he's being such a cock at least I don't have to put up with the horrible arse in my home and bed.
When DD relays information from her visits I try to be noncommittal and say "hmm really?" And "that's nice" whilst thinking of other things.
