single parent holiday club / meets

Hi,
I'm a lone parent and have been separated for 2 years now. I must admit life has been getting easier in this time (I've now got an all girl household and it's bliss!). Anyway, the one bit I still used to dread were holidays....

Finding out I'm not the only one that felt like that, I've just launched a holiday club for single parents - I'd love your feedback on this! It's very much a case of work in progress at the moment so your comments are all very welcome.

I will be returning to North West England in
summer 08 when my DH and I seperate for good. I am currently in Bermuda and need to wait until my sons fininsh the school year. Then on I am on my own with 2 boys.We love holidays and travel, I hope the site will expand further to include more far away destinations too.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. We've started with UK trips until we have a gauge on how big a membership we'll achieve - it's all a matter of guess work at the moment - then we'll add trips if the demand is there (I'm sure some kids favourites like Eurodisney, and possibly even the Florida variety will be hot on the list of potentials as well as some beach-type resorts).

Whereabouts in the North West are you heading?

What a great idea.
I'm a single mum of 2 boys and 2 girls.
We have been on 2 Haven holidays but it would be nice to share it with others.

Thanks all. We haven't finished it yet so there are still some missing links etc (and some latin pages!) and it won't yet show up on any searches but I really wanted to get feedback as we develop it further.

The idea is that we have club trips (as shown on the pages under holidays/ weekends etc) and there'll also be members trips where if someone wants to go on their own trip but want a travel partner (or 6!) they can advertise there.

I've had a few holidays alone and can't say I found it particularly restful!

Will the dating bit be just for registered users? So all single parents.

We're hoping to get the dating site up and running in the next few weeks and we're actually tying in to an existing database of single parents - there's nothing worse than joining a dating site and finding there's a choice of only 2 blokes, one old enough to be your grandad, one young, single and looking for "fun" ! (oh do I have some stories of internet dating )

I'm not sure exactly where we'll live as it depends upon my son passing the exam to get into Bolton School. I have a close friend in Lancashire and my Mother in Warrington.

Apart from them we don't know any one else in the area.Your website is just what I'll need,an opportunity to meet others for day trips etc and even give my children a chance to meet others to play with. Plus it might be nice to get a date when I am settled.

I am sure you have put a lot of hard work in already, well done there is a need and from little accorns......

I have booked my first holiday on a disney cruise in Feb 08 I don't think I'd be brave enough to tackle south America, China etc on my own however as a group it could be lots of fun.
