How much child support?

Just a general question really. Dad makes around £250 per week after tax. No other contribution other than CM. Doesnt buy anything else for DD. Doesnt take her overnight. How much child maintinence would you say he should pay?. I'm trying not to go down the CMS route but he refuses to tell me his exact earnings to do a proper calculation and tells me he earns £250 a week. I think its probably more to be honest as he is in a really good job. Dont want to say on here as it could be outing. What would you ask him to contribute?

As he won't tell you amount go down cms.
It costs £20 to set up but doesn't cost anything more so long as he makes direct payment. It is then reviewed annually . Saves a regular conversation

It's 12% of his salary before tax and national insurance. But after pension for one child.

16%for 2 children.

20% I think for three

The rates changed a few years ago. The Gingerbread website has very detailed information and examples.
If he refuses to tell you what he earns and is proffering a suspiciously low sum for a good job then you must go through CMS or your child will lose out on thousands over his childhood- think of the nutritious food and warm clothes they will need.
If the dad works 37.5 hours per week then even at minimum wage of £8.36 per hour he will be earning more than £300 per week.
Is he in a minimum wage job?
