Band d social housing help

Hi all, just after advice about being out in band d social housing?
My application is still in process but on my online form it says in my band d and after a quick google search that seems to suggest I cannot bid for housing and unlikely to get a house?
I don't know much about the process so I'm a bit confused!
Feeling a bit disheartened really. I'm a single mum to 2 boys age 1 and 4 and currently living in my mum and dads house. There's 5 people in this house who need a bedroom but the house is a 3 bed and my mum, bless her, sleeps on the sofa so my eldest son can have his own room (I have very much told her not to do this but she will not take no for an answer!!!!). I had thought that I may finally have found a way to be secure in my own home by putting this application in but now feeling a bit hopeless :(

Just another quick question,
So on my bid from last week I am queue position 12, this bid has now closed. I bid on something else this morning and I'm already 19 so most likely a more popular property! Do these numbers sound high in terms of when I'll be higher in the list? Do I become higher in the queue the longer I've been on the waiting list?

Hello yes can be disheartening but keep bidding. You're slowly going up the queue

november90 hard to say about the numbers as when I started bidding I was number 20+ but I’m in Cambridgeshire. My situation was different to yours I had to get my son’s dad to give me a letter in writing to say we needed to move out of his place before I got help and was placed in temp accommodation (we had a studie flat) for 12 weeks before I got a 2 bed flat, it was a tough time and sometimes it feels so surreal that it actually happened. Your area might be different though, keep bidding every week.

Do either of you know how the queue system works? Is it literally a matter of working through the list or could someone else come along in band c in A few months and get ahead of me? Hope that makes sense!
