cant say i know of any books, but listening/reading stories of other single parents can be really inspirational, especially some of the stories on here. you oughta get her on here if she can

My advice would be don't read any books (but then i don't believe in reading childcare books period)

Just follow instinct and try to not worry about things you can't control just focus on the things you can. There are lots of bonuses to being LP (although I've been shot down for stating that in the past). Good luck to her and if she needs support there are lots of us here!

A Virago book called: SOUL PROVIDERS ...not sure if it is still in print but it is wonderful, very inspirational... a few male lone parents amongst many women giving accounts of being a lone parent in a myriad of situations.
