Moving as a single parent

Has any single parents ever moved away to start a fresh somewhere new? I really hate where I live, I don’t really want to bring up my children here and would like to move somewhere else but I live near my family and although they never help me with childcare (literally never) my mum would have them in an absolute emergency (like think if I needed to go hospital etc) so I don’t know what would happen if I moved away and there was an emergency etc, what do others do in this situation? Has anyone moved away and regretted it?

I haven't done this but I would say if you are unhappy where you are then it may be a good idea. Maybe you could do a pro and con list. I'm sure your mum would be there still in an emergency if you needed her. Would you have employment in the area you go to?

No, cos all my family are here. If I moved somewhere I wouldn't have anyone's help. Hope you're safe. Have you thought about living near your mum?

Thanks I forgot I posted this, no I don’t have a good relationship with my mum, I get on ok with her but she’s too negative and judgmental for me so I keep her at arms length, I have no other family or ties here. I just want a fresh start but not sure if I am brave enough. Ex also knows where I live which although he is absent he has turned up at my door in the past so I don’t like that he has that ability should he wish. I don’t like my area and don’t want the kids growing up here (rough part of south London)
