Anyone separated recently and about to experience their first Christmas alone, in terms of single...plus without the children? I'm dreading it :(

Not in your situation but just wanted to say I hope the day goes quickly for you and the children will be so happy to see you when they get back.

I am in a similar situation. I have my son until 1pm Christmas day, after a battle, and he's gone until the 27th. I'm already anxious about it but am going to my sister's for dinner and trying to make plans for boxing day. Are you able to see people to pass the time?

I always find that watching a film and getting in some food you really like always makes it go faster.
I use to go to my best friends in the evening and play monopoly, swap presents and have a drink - may not be able to do that this year though - but making a plan for you helps it go quicker!
Also, it isn't actually they bad after the initial upset of them leaving; well to me anyway; once they're gone I had to pull myself together and get on with it - tidying the presents away etcSmile

I’ve done it. Can you see a friend? I went to church even though don’t usually go, did a big walk, cooked with a friend, ate lots of chocolates and had a good weep at call the midwife! It passes. It’s just a day and I am now skilled at doing “second Christmas” which the DC love. It was not as bad as the anticipation. Remember you are loved, even if loved ones can’t be with you.

Yes. I got dumped two weeks before Christmas by my pregnant partner and missed out on time with her and her two boys. It was heart breaking. I have been trying to make sure I do something every day and get some kind of routine going. I would give anything to find out why and try and rebuild our partnership
