Ds has some sort of lurgy that's keeping him off school.
I haven't been further than the corner shop for days. I feel alone and isolated.

I think he'll be ok if I go for a run (I'll take my phone) as I just need to get out.

I feel low and am wondering what the point of all this is.

Sorry to hear that OP, it can be so hard. How old is he and is he getting better?

Can you ring someone for a chat? BrewThanks

Thank you. He's 11 and is no trouble at all.
He seems to perk up in the day and then slumps again in the mornings.
I'm afraid I have been anything but patient and understanding Sad

I'm getting on with my work now.

I do have people I can phone, but honestly I'll just moan and moan and it sounds so lame and selfish.

round and round the block at most so you are always about five mintes from home, when he is ill if he is a young 11 not used to you going. If secondary 11 longer/further but still keeping a bit closer that you would normally as he is ill.

11 is the time when you can start to be more independent as they are expected to walk home from school at secondary. It is really strange after being glued to them for several years and now you can go out to the shop and leave them for five minutes even though they are walking across town on their own to school...

no going out if the lurgy is anything like coronavirus though. (i had an extravagent trip to the post box yesterday to post a test. the only reason I can go out.

True friends/loving family should let you moan at a time like this. Do it!

TheOrigRights · 11/11/2020 14:25

Thank you both - just venting helps.

I did msg a friend and my big sis who are both great listeners and don't judge (in fact my sis just lets me get on with my stream of angst and then waits for me to calm down before replying).

I have been for a run.

I've got this.

Well done OP!

Just got an attendance letter from school. First one I've had in my 21 years of children in school.

Ha ha ha to providing evidence - my surgery are going to be thrilled to provide medical evidence of 'general malaise' or 'lingering virus'.

Sad
