sorry of wrong place hut us anyone clued up on UC?

I was eligible to £50/month until I received an inheritance in March 2020. I tried to call in feb and couldn't get through son used the journal. It then took until the 17th April for anyone at UC to acknowledge despite me repeatedly posting there to ask about it.

The inheritance means i am no longer eligible which is fine, hut they have closed my case and then added a letter saying i have been over paid from May 2019 to May 2020 and now I owe them nearly £1000

I know I need to submit an appeal as all their own calculations state I was eligible from may 2019-march 2020 but how do i word that and what are the chances i will win the appeal?

Hi there. I'm a bit confused where the £1000 over-payment comes from.

It does sound like a mistake and they are known to have made a few so assuming your income is correct I'd say you have a good chance. Have you contacting them on the phone? I've not used the journal system as I found the same issues. As for paying back any over-payment from March, sounds like that will stand.

Thats what i can't understand! I am happy to pay back from March but I don't understand where the rest comes from.

Finally managed to get through to someone who has taken one look and said, don't worry they have made a huge mistake in back dating to May last year. She is getting the case manager to ring me tomorrow to sort it and get the correct information out as the pillocks have closed my claim so I can't reply to them on there to get it looked at.

Thank you for also being as confused as me @defendervank because I really wasn't sure if they had made a mistake or if I was going mad.
