Go and join some active conversations, then you'll get to talk to people rather than sitting in these dark rooms on your own.

MN doesn't really work like this to be honest. People don't just 'chat' as such, they chat about particular topics or subjects. You have to either start one yourself or elbow onto someone else's shouting the odds give your considered opinion on someone else's thread.

Admittedly a lot of the time the particular topic is a load of old bollocks, but that's how it works.
