Are there any good dating sites for lone parents wanting to meet lone parents?

I've looked at a couple, and although the men on there have children, their whole profiles are all about themselves, with no reference to their little ones.

I do try to have hobbies and a life for myself, but my life revolves around my children, and would love to meet someone the same.

Do men like this exist?? If so , where do I find them. Ive spent too much of my life with men whose life revolves around drinking etc

Why not place an ad saying you want to meet a guy who thinks like you about their little ones then describe you're values etc?

Good idea to meet another lone parent as you know they aren't looking for mum's with kids iykwim?

I know there's a good online dating site that's often recommended on mumsnet and I'm sure there'll be lone parent guys on there.

I have been single since i found out i was pregnant and my DD's are now 16 months. my friends are always on at me to join a dating site but i didnt want too but this sounds quite good. think i'll give it a try too.

Sarah Beany's "My Single Friend" seems to be one of the better ones (doesn't seem to be full of weirdos,haha).I have spotted the odd "celeb" on there too(if any of you fancy the singer from "Embraced" or that geeky looking children's newsreader from newsround,not rocking my boat though!:-)

I am extremely fussy lookswise though,I have to say.Of course it's vital that a guy has the right personality,but one has to be attracted to them as well,right:-)

Hehe, another fussy one here...I was on plentyoffish for a while until I actually spent an hour sifting through over 500 pics of guys who matched my criteria...and I didn't fancy any of them! Beginning to think I may be an untapped lesbian...

Another free one is flirtbox (dot co dot uk) and I found it really friendly and nice, very area specific which is good, and the two guys I met up with from there were HOT, seriously so. (Mind you I live in a city, since it's a smaller site than POF you might do better on it if you're in a city too.)

You could also try Gumtree for your area, my local one has various categories of dating and it's free and fab, have had a couple of nice casual things from there.

I always mention my kid early on, saves a lot of hassle, some guys just won't even go there. One of the things that put me off about parentsalready was that it might be full of men seeking stepmothers for their kids, someone to clean their house etc. Don't know if that's the case cos never got far enough into it to find out. Anyway I've been 'at it' since Jan and have only found one guy who was interested in anything serious, though don't know if that's because I'm a single mum, or something else. He did propose but guess what...I didn't fancy him. So sad! For me! (He would be a catch for someone I'll give you his POF name if you're in my city lol.)

Having been inspired by the POF and this thread, I put my details on the Parentsalready site. I've had one reply so far but he lives too far away. I'm not even sure why I'm doing it because I think I'd be too scared to meet anyone. I guess I'd just like to see if anyone out there is interested at all. People keep telling me that someone will just 'come along' and that certainly seems to happen for my friends and family but the only people to come my way are an ex whos not interested and our window cleaner and I'm definitely not going there!!!!

Hi all you fellow daters - I met a really nice guy who has 2 kids of his own, has them every fortnight for the weekend and has been involved in their lives ever since he split up with their mum 9 years ago. I have 2 kids of my own, similar scenario with my ex, though we only split 4 years ago. We have been seeing each other for 3 months, spend alternate weekends together and he comes round to mine 2 or 3 times a week for dinner.

He's probably too old for you lot though (and anyway he's taken now!) he's 42 and I'm 43.. Still maturity brings many benefits - he's a senior manager, well-paid and with his own house, car and all that.

It's a great situation, though still early days.. we're off on holiday for a week next month! I met him on dating direct, he mentioned his kids in his profile, as I had. I also had a profile on Guardian Soulmates and met some interesting people through that. FWIW, my view re paying for dating sites, is that if you're hoping to meet a serious partner, you should be prepared to invest a bit of money in it, and even more importantly, so should he. After all, you get what you pay for! Don't you think that free sites might attract a lot of time-wasters?

On Tetti's recommendation, I checked out sarah beany's singles web site and came across my own xp smiling at me! How hideous. He was only recognisable from his photo, rather than his self description, which suggested he was a home lover, loyal, pretty sexy and laid back - lies on top of lies! Horrible image of single mumsnetters ending up with one anothers xp's!!
