So often on this thread we talk about whats hard and we are all put through the mill regularly so i though for a little light relief we could do a "I am proud of myself because" moment (lets face it - if we dont do it - who will?

So, I am proud of myself for three years of teething, sleepless nights, bills, tantrums, colic, without a nervous breakdown. A good (if nghtmarishly stressful) job )i cna get another one) a brnad new car, being halfway through my degree, my lovely house and garden and most of all i am proud of my gorgeous lovely funny little boy. tantrums and all. I am by no means a perfect parent but i am doing the best i can and i am proud of it.

So ladies...........your turn - go on - big yourselves up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am proud of myself cos I just completed my degree - 3 yrs, full time.

I am also proud of myself cos my son is one of the kindest, most polite children I have met; my parenting (which reflects in my child) goes against all the media of a single-parent child brat

Im proud of myself because I've also completed a degree whilst bring up 2 dc, working part time and running a home.

I think well done to anyone doing it on their own. I was a single parent for a brief while and found it unbearably hard.

well done on the degree thing - gives me some hope for the light at the end of the (very long) tunnel!!

Yes, we should celebrate getting through every day. Sometimes it is a bit like being an alcoholic - one day at a time... I think, if I can just get through today I might feel a bit better about life tomorrow!!!

This year I have lost two and a half stone and I'm pretty chuffed with myself. It wasn't really that hard in fact, once I'd decided to get on with it.

I'm very impressed with people working and looking after kids AND studying - I really don't think I could manage that at the moment GOOD FOR YOU!

Im proud of myself not because i have a good job or a new degree because i have neither.

But im a single 20 year old mum to two wonderfull boys that are adorable, polite, charming and cute and im proud of proving all the doubters wrong and proving that you can be young and a good mum too.

I was a single parent for the first hree years of my DSs life. It's bloody hard work, so I take my hat off

the wilted rose - raising children is the best, but hardest job there is so its absolutely right that you should be very proud indeed of yourself.

I am doing a ba hons in business administration - one year down two to go!

i am proud of myself because after leaving exdp i;

learned how to drive
got a car
went back to college and got 2 a' levels
got a job
learned how to decorate
decorated my house from top to bottom and then did the same again when i moved to my new house, whilst pregnant, including laying a stair carpet, stripping woodchip and laying laminate flooring.

also, dd got a good manners award last week at her new school

well done her! Its amazing how much we learn when we are on our own isnt it - like you i passed my driving test in december last year (best momnet of my life) adn do all the diy and the gardenigng! And so does pretty much every lone parent i know. BIG WOOOP TO US!!!!!!!!

I'm proud of myself because despite my ex-h being a total s**t and all the horrid things he's done and said, my DD is a happy, healthy, intelligent and totally gorgeous little girl and I feel for the first time since I split with my ex, really positive about the future without him. Reading about the achievements of other single parents out there really encourages me to keep going. Great thread!

well as for achievements - i managed to raise three of them on my own - so if i can do it i'm sure you'll have a fine time, is amazing how it comes together when you dont think you've a clue whats going on.

I am proud of myself because I am raising an autistic boy on my own. He gets messages in his home contact saying 'played beautifully with X' or ' Been a delight today'

It's hard enough with two, it must be terribly hard with one sometimes.

(I must confess I thought this was a halloween thread when I opened it with the woooooooh moment )

lewisfan - mine are all about grown now - mid to late teens, eldest at uni, one heading for africa in a while in her gap year and one still at school. is a lifetime away from when i was left with them - youngest was only two and i had hardly been home until then. i kind of made it up as i went as had little to go on, has been fun but hard work at times, concentrated on enjoying life with them rather than taking any of it too serious.
