Posted this on another bit but got no response so trying again here.

Wow never thought this day would happen but I have just received the first cms payment in 3 years! It’s the grand sum of £29 for 4 children, does anyone know how the payments work out (cms is closed) I believe he is on benefits so am I right in thinking that’s a months payment? I was so close to cancelling the case as I thought I would never get a payment even if it is just £29 I’m glad he’s finally having to pay something no doubt he will come off benefits now though.

So I’m wondering is the £29 a months payment?

I think unfortunately that's right its £7 a week from benefits so £29 would fit.. how awful for 4 children. Make sure you keep taking it even if it is pocket money!

PumpkinP · 05/05/2020 13:03

Yeh what a joke hey! It’s only enough to buy the youngest a pack of nappies a week, so the older 3 won’t be seeing any of it! I’m just glad he’s finally been made to pay something, it’s not even about the money, we’ve had to go without it, it’s the principle. And yes I do need the money but £7 won’t change anything. I think he will come off benefits now though, he despises that I went to cms.

I honestly dont understand these kinds of dads! My partner has 2 kids from a previous relationship and pays £278 which I know obviously wont cover everything but at least it's a decent amount to use for them.
I wouldnt he with someone who didnt pay for his kids. Does he see them out of interest? X

Lonecatwithkitten · 05/05/2020 13:36

£7 per week is £30.50 per month the princely sum that drops into my bank account per month, but I am direct at. £29 may be the deductions from earnings/ benefits amount.

PumpkinP · 05/05/2020 13:37

He’s seen them twice in 3 years! His own choice. He told me to only contact him if it was an emergency Shock

Yes deductions from his benefits it must be, as that’s why he wasn’t paying. Cm told me he had “ priority debts” so didn’t have to pay. So looks like he must have cleared them now

How old? Well I wouldn't contact him at all! Their life is a bloody emergency isnt it, I only just found out that you dont pay csa if you have other debts that just shocking isnt it. Imagine if you said oh no school uniforms this year kids I've got a credit card that needs clearing 🙄

PumpkinP · 05/05/2020 15:51

Exactly! The reason why he has debts is because he’s not been working or claiming benefits for about 2 out of the 3 years. So must have racked up a lot of debt yet that’s my children’s fault because...? They basically told me tough, the cms, that he has priority debts and they come before cm. doesn’t pay his bills doesn’t pay for his kids Angry . They are aged 9 and under.

Well I hope he realises when then are older and want sod all to do with him, they are only going to get more expensive and how he thinks he can just opt out is beyond me. More power to you though you dont need him :)

midnightstar66 · 05/05/2020 16:51

Yes sorry to say that's a months payment. But I suppose it's better than the nothing you've been receiving. CMS is a joke

Greenlorry · 07/05/2020 13:04

CMS is open and you can download the app to see payments and things. I called them recently.
Stick with it hopefully your ex will get a job at some point and then his payments will increase. I’ve sure after this pandemic the Gov will be clamping down on a lot of things.

PumpkinP · 07/05/2020 22:14

Songbird232018 thank you

Thanks Greenlorry hopefully he does get a job in the future. Im pretty sure it said the call centre was closed? I don’t have the online account and don’t have the 12 digit number (i think it’s 12) to open an account. Ive probably got it on a letter somewhere but they wind me up when they come saying he owes nothing so I normally bin them. Haven’t had a recent one

The online thing is useless anyway, just tells you what you already know ie what you should be getting paid but probably won't. They don't respond to any messages or queries you send.

Greenlorry · 08/05/2020 09:53

The CMS are definitely open. Call them I’ve contacted them a few weeks ago and they can give you help to set up an online account over the phone. Don’t let them fob you off you have to chase CMS at the best of times lines do close earlier than normal, but they are open. Best of luck.

OhamIreally · 08/05/2020 21:50

CMS are open. I logged a new case on 30 March but they said it would be June before it was processed fully.
I think they're working through the changes where people have been furloughed/laid off.
