Universal credit while on maternity leave?

I currently work full time and I'm not entitled to any benefits.
My first child is due in June and I'll be a single parent. During maternity leave I'll receive 90% pay for the first 6 weeks, 50% plus statutory for the next 20 weeks and then just statutory for the next 12 weeks.
I presumed I wouldn't be entitled to anything else (other than child benefit), however when I used a benefits calculator (entitledto.co.uk) it said I'll be entitled to over £1000 a month in universal credit.

Does anyone know if this sounds right? I rent privately if this makes any difference. Thankyou!

If you aren’t sure maybe contact citizens advice or another welfare agency.

I'm a single parent on mat leave and receive UC but my work only do SMP so I'll be earning a lot less than you. UC is awarded on a monthly basis and is dependent on your income. I can't imagine you would get over £1000 as my SMP is £600 a month and I certainly dont get £1000 in UC but I don't pay rent as I have a mortgage

yes you are entitled to universal credit

im not sure how much but as an e.gif you get SMP at approx £600 a month you will get around £500 with a house+ mortgage
More if you have a rental

apply mid month! takes 5 weeksto process
