Hi ladies just on the off chance anyone's children's dads work in spirit aerosystems as a standard aircraft mechanic. I know it's a very well paid job with lots of overtime etc. As it stands we have a private arrangement but he refuses to tell me his income. On average how much should I expect maintenance per month with this kind of job?. He doesn't have DD any nights and she is his only child. Even if your child's dad doesn't work here but you know on average what they earn through family members etc could you please give me some advice. Thanks x

Don’t have a private arrangement
Get this sorted properly

I think it’s 15% of his salary.

But I agree that you should go via cms- they will check with Hmrc and you will get the benefit of his overtime too. They will check annually what he has earned.

He is only managing that job because you are doing all the childcare.

I'm thinking about that and @ScabbyBabby I've actually never really thought of that before! I might say that to him next time he moans about having no money. When he actually can work every bit of overtime going.

Aircraft mechanics are in a pretty decent wage. Just go through CMS.

Be prepared for him to be annoyed! But know you are doing the right thing.

Cms isn’t backdated as far as I am aware- it starts from when they contact him (unless this has changed since I applied) so the sooner you contact them the better.

If he had to pay for all the childcare you are and have been providing it would cost him a hell of a lot more than the maintenance I should imagine. Also he has the peace of mind in knowing his child is well looked after and happy so he can go to work unburdened.

He has it easy, don’t let him fool you!

Good luck Smile

Air craft mechanics are definitely on a decent wage, not sure of exacts but I know it’s not a poxy packet.

Glassdoor would have rough salaries on it. But CMS are the better option, unless he goes self employed.

If you know what company he works for then you could probably get a rough estimate of his salary by googling. Obviously it won't take into account all the overtime or bonuses he might get but I suppose you could get an idea at least?

I would start by googling "job title, company name" and see what comes up. Glass Door and indeed are usually good places to find salary and job info. If there's any current vacancies advertised, they might put the salary on the adverts too.
