Help, oh help, I think I am pregnant and I don't want another baby.

I am a single parent of 2 under five, and my period is a week late.

I know, I KNOW, that I do not want another baby. I did have intercourse 2 or 3 weeks ago, using a condom.

Please can anyone suggest what to do?

I did a PG test yesterday and it came up negative, but last time this happened I was pregnant, just didn't show on the test.

How do I get this sorted out? I really cannot have another baby.

Is there an early pregnancy unit near you?

They should be able to help?

It will be OK.

PassingBreezeBlocks · 23/08/2007 17:47

Doing something always better than worrying IME. Hope its OK.

PassingBreezeBlocks · 23/08/2007 19:29

You are right.

I will ring the epu tomorrow - can I do that or do I have to go through my doctor?

if you used a condom and have had a negetive test, then hopefully you are not pregnant - you would be unlucky if you are.

I would wait another few days then test again.

I think my brain is fooling me into pregnancy syndromes - I am tired and keep getting pins and needles in my hands.

Maybe AF just needs a little coaxing. Listen to some relaxing music, eat a fat bar of chocolate, have some wine if you have any in the house, and go to sleep early. I hope nature sorts it out for you

macdoodle · 23/08/2007 19:46

Condoms only about 50-60% effective not good as a means of contraception sorry

belgo · 23/08/2007 19:50

macdoddle - can you reference that satistic please. If used correctly, I believe condoms to be in the region of 98% effective.

belgo · 23/08/2007 19:55

of course though you have to rely on the man to use the condom correctly for the condom to be reliable.

JodieG1 · 23/08/2007 19:55

I thought condoms were around 98% effective as well.

JodieG1 · 23/08/2007 19:56

Putting condoms on isn't hard (excuse the pun ) but if you don't trust your partner then put them on for him, though I fail to see why you'd be having sex with someone at all if you feared they couldn't put a condom on correctly.

tahnk you little lapin

pooka · 23/08/2007 20:02

I'm hoping condoms have 98% effectiveness since that's my mode of choice.

Don't think an EPU will be able to do anything in terms of reassuring you atm to be honest - better to wait another couple of days and test again. A scan may not find anything at this stage anyway.

Fingers crossed for you.

Good link, knew it wasn't 60%.

aloha · 23/08/2007 20:12

I am pretty sure you are worrying about nothing. A condom plus a negative test really means that it is very unlikely you are pregnant.

lilQuidditchKel · 23/08/2007 20:19

I'm telling you, have the chocolate and some wine. Trust me.

(went through this when I was 17 and oh man did I panic)

seriously just wishing you the best luck in the world.

the condom was intact, as far as I could tell. It didn't come off or anything. I still haven't come one yet and I am getting really frightened ... worth buying another test yet, do you think?

nutcracker · 25/08/2007 10:23

You are worrying, which might be delaying af.

Wear a white skirt or something, and it's bound to appear.

fawkeoff · 25/08/2007 10:26

lol nutcracker, if you want to buy another test then go for it but i would wait and see if af shows up.
