Hey guys, really struggling financially at the moment. All of my friends are married and when they say they are 'skint' they really don't get it. Having two incomes makes such a difference. Does anyone have any tips for saving money? I keep staring at my budget and can't work out how I can help my situation.

I work full time, have 3 kids.

Moneysavingexpert. Google it.

Work out income, benefits calculators online to see if you can get extra help.

Work out the essential outgoins.

Shop around, cut back and compare costs of essentials like energy bills, phone and internet etc.

Do you get any child maintenance? Do you have assets to sell or stuff to clear out and ebay or sell on fb?

Budget and have no spend days.

You need to see where the money is haemorraging and if there isnt enough money consider taking a higher paid job, taking courses to increase your earnability or take extra jobs.

If you have debts get debt advice CAB, Step change, national debt line all good for debt.

Most of the money saving tips are basic stuff. They will make a small difference but the big problem is not enough money coming in and unavoidable commitments going out. Is there any way you can increase your income - up your hours, ask for a raise, do extra overtime, work from home or even change jobs? It’s the amount coming in that makes the big difference.

Some of this you might already do

Brand down.. I find my shopping at Aldi significantly cheaper than Morrison's. Frozen meat veg, cheaper and you can bulk meals out with lentils or veg.

Compare electric gas prices..See if you are eligible for warm home grant.

I often go to bed when son does, or we watch TV in Bed Saturday nights saves hearing.

Toiletries,, basic brands are fine.

Walk if possible. Packed lunch for school.
