Single mum financial help

Hi I am wondering if there is any single parents in a similar situation to myself.

I broke up with my ex of six years and a week later I found out I was pregnant. He is very supportive however we won't be getting back together. I work full time and also have a mortgage on my own and am very anxious about affording all my bills being a single parent. This is a situation I never thought I would be and always imagined us being together.

Is there any single parents who receive financial help as I am worried I won't get very much.

Look on the entitledto calculator to see whether you are entitled to tax credits or universal credit top up. Even if you're not eligible now you may be when little one arrives. I have a DS and receive UC to top up my wages.

Factor into your calculations. Your smp. Child benefit and maintenance the child's father will be paying.

Also moving forward maybe a universal credit claim. This can cover up to 85% of your childcare costs if/when you return to work.

Don't forget your single persons discount for your council tax. And look at all your out going and see if you can reduce or stop any.

Everything the PPs said. Also be money smart- make Martin moneysupeemarket your new best friend. It's hard work but even subscribing to that company that ensure you're always on the cheapest tariffs will save you some pennies which turn into pounds.
