Why the hell aren't my ex's employer sending the maintenance over?!

It's a miracle that my ex husband has had a job for more than a month, a deduction of earnings order is in place, and apparently the deductions have been taken off him (CMS can now see his payslips?).

But... His employer hasn't sent the maintenance in! I haven't had anything since March 27th. The CMS haven't classed this as late until Friday 24th May, and are now "looking into it" and "will contact the employer".

It's stressing me out so much. At least when he didn't have a job at all I could just forget about the whole thing.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Sounds like a nightmare for you. Fingers crossed it is quickly resolved.

I was getting money deducted from ex earnings. And once sorted went very smoothly until he lost his job 🙄.

Hope it is some sort of admin mistake and so resolved.

As an employer, attachment of earnings orders are really tricky to deal with, rather than telling me how much or simply automatically taking the higher amount through a higher tax code, they sent me a 16 page booklet with multiple tables for me to work it out! And they never answer the helpline phone for ages. Smaller workplaces can really struggle to understand what to do, I wish they would simply issue a different tax code

@stucknoue thanks for sharing an employer's point of view. I suppose I'd have more sympathy for them if they hadn't sent the March payment on time and in full - clearly they understood what to do back then?! It's getting really depressing now...

Thanks @eve34. I know exactly how you feel! Why can't these stupid men just pay us directly?! He'd have saved LOADS of money if he hadn't refused to do that and I'd be none the wiser if he had pay rises etc.
