My dd has just phoned me in tears, says she is missing me.... Only went to her dads today and is there for a week - I feel really bad now.

I told her to go and give her dad a big cuddle and that I loved her and wasn't far away
what should I do?

You did exactly the right thing. Now sit down and have a big cry and then think of all the lovely DD-free things you can do. My DD is off to her Dads for 2 weeks at the beginning of August and I'm dreading it. The times she's rang and said she's missed me, I always tell her that we'll see each other soon and that she'll have a lovely time with daddy.

Well done - you did the right thing. She probably just needs to get through the first night and she will be fine. Now go get yourself a big glass of wine and think what you can do to treat yourself over the next few days. xx

Thanks - she goes every other weekend for a saturday night stayover, she has never phoned me in tears to say she misses me. perhpas as she knows she will not see me for a week it is different.

I did say you will have a lovely time with daddy.

She's probably extra tired with it being the end of the school year and, if today was her last day, it can be quite emotional for some children to leave a teacher they have spent the past 10 months with. She's probably carrying this and the tiredness with her, which has made her more tearful than normal.

Here endeth the amateur psychology lesson! Now I really must go to bed!

Again today she ran me in floods of tears and sobbing that she wanted to come home. I did telephone her dad and then left it an hour and phoned her again - her phone had been turned of so I rang her dads phone and asked to talk to her, he told me he was now talking to her to "get to the bottom of it, probalby someone said something to her before she came " I ignored the jib and said well I will pop and see her to reasure her. She told me she still wanted to come home and I said I would visit and give her a cuddle but that was all. I did visit and she had a big cuddle and I told her she would have a wonderful time with her dad, she had cheered up and seemed much better. I feel so sad, she has never done this before and she had big red eyes - this just isn't like her.
