Getting a social life

Morning I was hoping for some ideas for getting out and about when the kids are with their Dad. Sunday’s are the hardest...I’ve got a good circle of friends but the old ones who know me best are hundreds of miles away. My newer local friends have families and so weekends can be pretty lonely.
So I was thinking of getting out of the routine of school work bedtime and joining a club with a good social scene. I’m fairly near Brighton. Any ideas? Cycling? Swimming? Running (hate running) I’d love to join a group that do things at weekends.
Help me get out of the rut!

www.meetup.com/

They have everything from single parent meet-ups to knitting. Met my partner at a single parents event.

The world is your oyster. I joined a community allotment. I can do as much or just a few hours each week. And the children can join in if they are with me for the weekend.

I also volunteered at the night shelter. As they needed people over the weekend so both have given me a bit of structure when the children are with their dad.

I like the idea of an exercise group.

Hope you find the right thing for you.

Thanks! I’ve joined a choir starting on Tuesday which is my free night. I love singing it’s good for the Soul!!

I find the weekends hard too- thanks for the meet up link @Parent999. Given me some ideas.
I have friends with families and don’t always feel you can intrude on their weekend.

For what it’s worth OP, I’m fairly local to Brighton too. Feel free to PM if you need a chat Grin

@captainflash @parent999 I'm a LP in brighton - I rarely get a night off owing to my ex's changing availability but am always up for making new friends (with our without kids in tow) to hang out with. if you are interested in arranging a meetup sometime let me know :)

PS I can recommend Bumble app - it has a friends function as well as the dating function - I met some nice people on there :)

@emski1972 sorry I realise I messaged the wrong person there (parent999) in error rather than your good self who is local to me. see my message above and if you and captainflash are up for a Brighton meetup sometime let me know :)
