Tried to get this going a few years ago in my local area but to no avail. My son is finding not seeing his biological dad really tough and I think I'm gonna try again - go big this time, social media, leaflets. We have nothing in the area, surely people would life this.

What kinds of things would make you want to go to a group like this?

In theory I’d like these things but I work full time and have young DC so weekdays are basically out as they’re tea/bath/bed/housework filled. And then at weekends we do family things so it’d have to be a good offer to tempt me to get everyone dressed and out the house. And I’d have to know that the kids were going to be entertained/occupied properly while we were there (so organising or planning meetings are out, and I wouldn’t be able to devote any time to those things so I’d feel guilty about joining a group I couldn’t contribute to).

I think organise some free activities e.g plan a picnic to the beach.

Hi. I think it sounds like a great idea. I’m in Bristol and there’s a very active single parents (mums and dads) group on Facebook where people can post and get to know each other online, and also there’s one on Meetup. They do park visits, bike rides, lots of free stuff with kids mainly at weekends but also coffee type meet ups and the odd night out for the adults too. It’s probably been going a while now but it’s really well supported. I think there’s an annual camping trip for the FB one.
Good luck - you never know until you try and you’ll probably make a few friends out of it.
