Help with childcare costs as a single working mum? Help!

Hello,

I wondered if anyone had been in the same position, I work 24 hours currently and am a single mum. My son is 14 months old and up to now I’ve had help with family to look after my boy whilst I work which has been a life saver.

But now in the near future I’m going to have to put my son in childcare but wondered how I’d get help to pay for the costs. I don’t know how I’ll be able to afford it 😔 how has everyone else done it?
Thank you x

Contact HMRC re tax credits. You can claim the childcare element, which last I knew, covered up to 70% of childcare costs. Also see if your employer has any schemes to help towards the cost of childcare.

If your a low earner you can get up to 70% of childcare costs on tax credits.
But I have no idea how it works on universal credit and for some reason I have bad feeling they pay childcare costs a couple of months in arrears Confused. (I hope someone can put me right though!).
