The CSA have sent me a letter to say they're writing off all money owned to me

I'm so sad to be completely unshocked, and not remotely disappointed.

You see, to be disappointed, I would have had to have hope. To be shocked, I would have had to have expectations OTHER than my kids' father being a completely piece of shit loser and the government being seemingly incapable of finding a man who's been living at the same address, that I have already given them, for 8 years.

People who don't pay their council tax for 8 years go to fucking prison. Apparently, child welfare is not as important as council tax.

That’s really rubbish. Flowers

sue51 · 01/03/2019 18:08

Can they do this without your consent? Letting him get away with this is completely immoral.

HollowTalk · 01/03/2019 18:09

That's terrible. On what grounds are they basing this?

whiskeysourpuss · 01/03/2019 18:13

I got one too OP!

they say they have no way of recouping the money - I'd suggest they deduct it from the child maintenance that I currently pay him each month now that DS lives with him Hmm

colditz · 01/03/2019 18:14

Apparently it will be too difficult to recover the money

I have the right to appeal, but considering hes been working off the books since I caught him and his ratbag girlfriend stealing from me via catalogue fraud, he's probably been 'legally' income free for all this time!

And honestly? I don't really consider them to be his kids any more. He's just some man.

I had the letter too, my ex moved to New Zealand in 2005 and died in 2015 so I tend to agree with them that they won't get any money from him.

HalfBloodPrincess · 01/03/2019 18:17

They wrote off almost £27000 that I was owed since 2005. I didn’t have to give permission. It’s a bloody joke.
I put in a case with CMS when it transferred over and he’s run up another £11000 in arrears. I know I’ll never see the money but I’ve got all the paperwork to show the dc if they ever question it.

sagradafamiliar · 01/03/2019 18:48

I received mine the other week. The way it was worded, 'if you're content with this'...! I had to smile as I crumpled it into the bin.
We were never going to see that money anyway Thanks

sue51 · 01/03/2019 19:20

Could you pursue it through the small claims court? I know they are limited in what they can award but its better than writing the money off completely. This is so unfair, I'm seething on your behalfs.

colditz · 01/03/2019 19:47

I could pursue it but then I'm giving headspace to someone I dumped 12 years ago.

And he still won't give me any fucking money. He's never got any money. They're deliberately poor. They have his girlfriend set up as the breadwinner, despite having a lower earning capacity, purely to avoid paying maintenance to my children.

She’s got a keeper there hasn’t she!

sue51 · 01/03/2019 19:52

It beggars belief that a parent could be so financially abusive to their children.
