hiya, i'm a recently lone parent on income support i have been told i have to get CSA involved or i lose 20 percent involved. i dont want to take this road as he is a very bad tempered and i just know this will cause trouble, at the moment we are just on talking terms.
i have an interview with at the jobcentre because when i claimed income support i said no to child maintenance so they want to speak to me, with what i have said above what will they do? will they still take 20% off my income?

yes they will take 20%,you have to involve the CSA nowadays if youre on income support. if your ex gets arsey with you get an injunction on him or an harrassment order, if youre sorting out contact for any children it wont look good on him infront of a judge if theres evidence hes been violent because of paying maintenance.

hiya, i am in your position, violent ex and on income support. when i had my interview i told the guy all about our relationship gave him the dates that the police came out [approx] and arrested him etc and told them about the threats that he had issued to both myself and his child. they havnt stopped any of my money because of this. this is going back to 2006 but i cant see them being so different now if you explain to them what he is like.

I had an interview told them that it was abusive relationship but that i had never reported it to police as i was to scared to but now i was scared that if csa chased him for money he would become violent & agressive again & i would be scared for my & my babys saftey they excepted that & told me that if things changed then to contact them

Yes I think WW is right, if there are good reasons why you cannot do this, like it will upset a violent man and cause you possible harm or harrassment, then they do not make you do it and it will not affect your income if you have these sort of reasons.

It used to be the case anyway, I researched it all a couple of years ago.

Good luck and just be honest about it, plus keep a record of his behaviour - any threats, any harrassing phone calls etc. etc. in case it goes further at some point.
