Child maintenance issue

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some advice regarding child maintenance?

Me and my ex have recently broken up after a long emotionally draining relationship. We have 4 children together and he’s moving in to his own place very soon.

How does child maintenance work when an nrp has a child with someone else? He also has a child with his ex wife who he pays maintenance for. He says he can’t afford to give me anything because she gets too much off him already. Nice.

Look at the cms calculator on line. If you know his income. This will give you a figure. Taking into account other children and any over nights he might have.

Otherwise go through the cms. They will be able to work out the amount he is expected to pay. Although they are useless in my experience. They will give you a figure to work from.
