Holidays abroad

My ex wants to take our children (3 and 8) abroad for a week in the summer.

Our 3 yr old has separation anxiety from myself and never wants to stay at his dad's. We have a court order, to which I have residency of our children and they stay with their dad eow (2 nights) and 1 overnight mid week. Also agreed to half the holidays but to be mindful of our 4 yr old.

So i understand the 1 wk abroad will be difficult but I feel I don't have any choice but to agree. However my ex gas booked the flights from an airport which is a 10 he drive from where we live. This means 2 extra days and nights away. So a week has now turned into 9 nights!

I am cross I he never consulted me in this before booking, clearly ignoring our 3yr olds needs and expects me to agree to it and not say anything.

Any thoughts or advice welcomed pleased at what I can do.

You could both increase the time with the father in the preceding period before the holiday, to help with the separation anxiety in the long term as well as this occasion.
If you were to encourage the children and help to excite them about what a lovely holiday they’ll have, this can in effect give them “permission” to enjoy the holiday knowing both parents are happy.

In truth, you could of course disagree, which is your choice, but from my understanding courts are very likely to take the decision out of your hands and permit a parent to take their children on holiday.

Aside from the above advice I would ask the other parent if they mind face timing every other night so you can keep in contact.
