I am a single mum to 4. 2 older ones with sen, one 4 year old and a baby.
Life is very hard, ex is absent through choice (hasnt been in there life for a year now, no contact at all) I do everything alone. this week ive been called twice to pick up 2 of my kids from school, just feel like a yoyo. I resent not getting a break. Most single mums get to have a weekend free. I havent had a break in almost 2 years. Anyone else in the same boat doing it alone?

I had one weekend off in 16 years. OP! My DH died when our two daughters were still babies. I brought them up alone while working full time as a hospital doctor. My nearest relatives were 250 miles away and also working.
It’s bloody tough being a single parent, and you have my sympathy.
I’m just getting some “me time” now, as I retired 2 years ago.

My ExH was emotionally and verbally abusive to DD so any contact not in a public place is inappropriate. Her last overnight with him was 2 years and 3 months ago.
I do have a new partner, but he does not live with us and travels a lot for work. Plus DD is not his child and whilst he tells me I should share the burden I feel guilty for doing that.
I find myself trying to be both Mum and Dad and probably taking on too much and spreading myself to thinly. It is tough.
