I have just turned down my dream job as I felt the demands of the role/seniority and expectations of long hours wouldn't suit the challenges of being a lone parent. It's been sad and painful to say no.
The reality is that I have to leave just after 5 in order to do pickup from school and because I have to do dinner/bath/bed every night just can't work into the evenings from the office (although I do work at home at night a lot). So have given up a pay increase of 20k as can't make it work. It sucks.
What career sacrifices have you made as a single/lone parent?
