Can ex stop you from moving to a different place with dc? Finding it so hard living in the same town as him and want to move on. I've heard they can block this if they don't agree. Is that true?

Simple answer is yes. Although if you can show a good reason it can be taken into co side ration, but as long as there are no court orders to the co treaty, he has the ‘right’ to see his hold, and develop a relationship with them. Best to talk to a lawyer.

It’s possible. He could take out a specific issues order to stop you (google it). You would have to prove that it’s in the best interest of the kids. As you’ll be the one moving - you may be required to do at least 50% of drop offs and pick ups

How far are you thinking of moving ? How old are children ? How much contact does he have ? These are factors. But he would have to apply to the courts

DC is 4. Would want to move to south west from south east.

I moved 200 miles from North to South, exdh did see a solicitor to see if he could stop me but because i was moving back to my home town for family support and the fact that exdh worked away in the week so only saw dc at weekends, the solicitor said he could try and stop the move but realistically he would lose. I do have to do 50% of the travel though and its very very tiring for the dc as they see their dad eow and its a 3.5hr journey for them.

Would that be to move to family , you also might have fight about what school you are moving her to. If you have her in good school , the best will be full

Oh crikey it does sound like it would end up being a massive hassle. I can't bear living in same town as EA ex though.

I’m currently going through the courts to get to move! Not a pleasant or cheap experience!

It may be worth getting legal advice on your situation.

Worst case scenario you could move out the town . He can’t hold you in s town the distance would be a factor.

Thank you everyone.

Is there some kind of maximum distance you can move without a legal battle?
