Bedtime!

Hi, does anyone else find themselves going to bed pretty much as soon as the kids are in bed? I'm a single mum of 3, the youngest (age3) never sees their dad, so no time to myself at all and I'm knackered. I'm usually in bed by 8 most nights. I then read until 9.30/10 but I just feel I need to be in bed. I have chronic pain that's draining and find I feel better in general once in bed. I'm not a great TV watcher and don't have a tv in my room. I'd rather read. Am I sad and pathetic or do others do this?? I don't feel I'm missing out on anything and quite happy with my lot, I'm just knackered.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Yes I do this aswell. I have 4 kids (their dad also doesn't see them at all) and I am shattered!

I'm not a single parent but I often go to sleep alongside my 3.5 year old when I put her to bed. Although my dp loves it so he can work in peace

Yes me 😁. Three dc, youngest is 2 and i regularly go to bed just after i have put my eldest to bed at about 8pm. I love my bed and rarely watch tv as i prefer my tablet so instead of sitting downstairs i go to bed. Am normally asleep by 9pm most nights as i too am knackered, and no im not missing out on anything and perfectly happy. Infact i have 2 married friends with dc and they also go to bed as early as they can.

I should add this can sometimes be as early as 7.30

Many years ago now but I was lone parent of three and once they were in bed and the chores done I went to bed too. It’s the only way to get through those early years alone.

LiteraryDevil · 11/04/2018 22:20

Glad it's not just me!
I've also been known to be in bed by 7.30! My youngest is still breastfed at bedtime and often falls asleep on me. I shamelessly stay in the rocking chair enjoying the cuddles and have been known to nod off. But generally as soon as LO is down I make sure the older ones are settled in bed then it's a quick tidy before climbing into bed. I've tried to do a bedtime story for all of them but LO causes havoc and gets them all giddy so I gave up on that. LO has s story before the bedtime feed now and the older ones read to themselves. I love bedtime!

Yep every night as soon as the kids are asleep it's bed for me too. I feel tired and to lonely downstairs on the nights.

I have 2dc, DD 5 goes to bed at 8 and DS 10 goes to bed at 9. I spend and hour watching tv then go to my bed and read till around 12ish. I also have chronic health issues. Although I’m not a lone parent my DP works long hours so I deal with the kids bedtimes.

ohamIreally · 12/04/2018 20:49

I do this 2 or 3 times a week. Sometimes I'm so tired I'm dragging myself around at DD's bedtime whilst she's jumping around full of energy. I joke that she should put me to bed!

cremeeggs38 · 17/04/2018 09:36

I went to bed at 18:45 the other day with my DD, we cosleep, by the time I got her to sleep I couldn't be bothered to get up....story of my life!

LiteraryDevil · 17/04/2018 18:35

Cremeegg I think it started with me when I co-slept with my 28 month old and has stayed that way since despite the fact LO sleeps in a separate room now. I love getting into bed at night in the evening.
