Unreasonable?

I have recently spilt from my partner of 15 years. From we have spilt he has been very awkward regarding contact. He said at the beginning that he will not take children at weekends "to allow me to go running.." as in have a social life. I was thankful he was taking kids so agreed to weekday contact tues, weds and i collect them after work on a thurs. DD has clubs on tues&weds and I have still been bringing her and dropping her back to ex. I asked him this weekend if he could take them and he said he was busy. Fair enough, however he will not agree to any weekends. I have since contacted him and told him weekdays no
Longer suit and he said then they cannot stay. He has been off sick from before Xmas and therefore has free time to take but constantly reminds me once he goes back he cannot agree to set days as he "has to
Work all the overtime he can to support the house hold"

This in itself is contradictory as he hasn't been as work so is free to take whenever.

I should also say that I work weds/thurs and his parents had previously taken 3 kids on these days to allow us both to work.

Am I being unreasonable saying weekdays no longer suit? Offering alternative weekends were possible?

X

No you are definitely not being unreasonable. He is doing this to try and stop you having a social life. Did you instigate the break up by any chance? This might be his way of hitting back, or he's worried that if you go out you might meet someone. He needs to think about the children first, rather than spitting his dummy out.
The children will get quality time with their dad if he has them EOW. During the week it will only be after school. He can do more with them of a weekend

thanks for the reply.

yes, i left him so i do understand he is feeling very hurt etc hence why i agreed to the weekdays so they had some contact. i am not saying he cant have them, and would never.

i have to desire to go out and find anyone, but as he is very paraniod i can see this thinking. he does work shifts so i know contact will not be set days, however i have asked him to look st his rota and give me days that suit. he said thekids would be staying with his parents as he may be working late, but as you said theres no quality of time spent as eldest two are in school.

ive contacted mediation but waiting on an appointment, plus i dont thiink he will agree to it.

sorry about the typos. my ipad is very slow at the minute x
