Lapsed passport!

Just realised DD's passport has lapsed, which is shit! Her original (she's 5 so this is only her second) was signed by me & her dad; he is no longer around & we have very little contact. Can I get her a new passport without his signature??? The site says something about a cover letter but I can't work out if that's completely NC (and if they'd chase it) or whether I can just pop one in & bob's your uncle

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It only needs one parent to renew a child's passport.

Aaargh!! Been stress heading over nothing. So doesn't matter at all if both signed the original?

Does t matter st all. I've re ewes both DCs passports a few times with no hassle and their dad is not in contact with us. Enjoy your holiday.

I applied for my Ds without any input from ex but it was about 7 years agp

Cupoteap · 14/01/2018 18:49

I got my dc first passports recently with exh involvement

I got DS1s passport last October without his dad’s input. I did have to put his details on the form, but he wasn’t required to sign it or anything.

Am so relieved, thanks all. Makes life so much easier

I have applied for and renewed 6 passports without exes details but if you have a note anywhere of his passport number that would come in handy.

mustbemad17 · 14/01/2018 19:10

I don't have that sadly. Don't even think he had a passport when we applied for DD's tbh!

If your surnames are different put that in the box for extra info. I phoned the passport office a few years ago when they were tightening up ion thins and they said they'd add in on DCs passports my name as their mother as the surname was different. I went back to my maiden name following divorce. We've never had an issue about it when travelling., I also asked them to note that XH had had no contact for several years so I was unable to get any consent if ever needed for any travel.

Thankfully DD has my surname, so no issues there. I may add in that we have no contact tho just to cover my ass
