Christmas time

I hate this time of year.

The kids have requested to be with me again Christmas Day which is lovely.
But I still can't get over the fact that my exHs girlfriend will be spending Boxing Day with them while I'm on my own. I know it's silly but why should she get to play happy families with my kids.

Because she's a part of your children's lives?

It's not going to be nice and no one is asking you to like it but considering you're having your children for Christmas Day again, I think you should focus on what you've got to be thankful for.

I've been where you are. It is awful - but your children will have a lovely time having two Christmases.

You can chill out on Boxing Day doing whatever you want to do at no one's beck and call. It will be a long day and you can choose to mope about being consumed by something out of your control, or make an effort to make it a positive day.

It gets easier.

My children will be with me until 2pm on Christmas Day and then with their dad until tea time on Boxing Day. It is hard because you miss out on important bits but it's the same for their dad, the main thing is that the children are happy. I just try and make it positive and enjoyable for me too and tell my kids that I'm having a lovely Christmas so that they don't worry.
