Do you wear a Wedding Ring when loan parent & not married?

Just wondering as I wear a wedding ring, I'm not married & do not have a partner but have noticed a big big difference in the way people treat you!

As I'v always been a professional person I was not acustomed to the way people treated me, looked down their nose like I was a second class citizen. Since wearing a ring people treat you with respect and include you in conversations its really wierd.

Has anyone else done this?

I am amrried and don't wear one.Watching this with interest.When I wear one it changes how I feel about myself.

I'm married but only wore a wedding ring for the first 9 months (so haven't worn one for about 16 years now). I've never noticed anyone looking down their nose at me, but then I'm pretty thick skinned.

In what sort of situations did you find it made a difference to wear a ring? I find it interesting that there is a difference at all, I wouldn't have thought that many people would notice or care.

I always feel more sensible and grown up when I wear one l.o.l so thats why I don't bother

Keep mine on for certain situations, as lots of people at work are unaware of my marriage break up & up until today my MIL didn't know, as H kept putting off telling her.
I do remove it a lot, but it does make my finger feel strange!

If found its the way people judge you, I'm quite young and alot of people tend to take one look at me and push past me with a disaprooving look, there are alot of single mothers where I live so you are steriotyped IYKWIM, but since wearing a wedding ring they chat to me and my dd's, I'v noticed them glancing to see if I'm wearing one or not if so they smile and chat.

I am very paranoid about this too. I feel exposed when out with my buggy without a ring on and I definitely noticed people checking and treating me differently.

I've recently split up with my partner, we were never married (part of the issue but I digress) although he did give me a ring which I wore on my wedding finger (yes am sad and was keen to get married but it nevver happened and now never will) and I have taken it off recently as it clearly didn;t mean anything any more and I feel very naked without it.

ALL my friends are very traditional - I have two other friends who are not married and the rest are married or engaged and NONE of them would even consider having a baby out of marriage so I am quite the rebel although I do feel that some of them (not my close friends) pity me and look down on me (sometimes I don;t blame them!)

I never noticed a difference, I stopped wearing my wedding ring 9 years before we split up.

its just a piece of metal, never liked wearing one anyway and having people judge/assume things about me

don't wear one - don't really understand why it matters anyway I am sure people don't notice.

You always seem to think people care more than they do.

I'm another who is married and hasn't worn one for years. DH does.
