£27K, lone parent, two kids and tax credits

Anyone else in a similar position and could tell me if the monthly tax credit of £90 is about right for a lone parent earning around £27k, two kids?

When I punched in the figures online it gave me £140ish but I've just had a letter saying £90/month id being awarded.

Sounds fair, it's a decent wage.
Haven't working tax credits been scrapped for over 25k, I imagine you will be hit for child tax too as you earn over that.

I haven't had tax credits since DD was 5 (6 years ago) and I was earning £19000 so it sounds like you are getting the correct amount for 2 children

I don't get working tax credit. It's just child tax credit. I'm puzzled re the discrepancy between what it said I'm eligible for online and that specified in the printed letter. I know it's usually based on previous year's income but I explicitly stated that I wanted it based on what I'm earning now to avoid any overpayment.

I earn slightly more and get more than that but I have quite high childcare bills.

Do you pay childcare? I earn about 1k a year more than you and I am not entitled to any now I don't have any childcare costs, so yours sounds right to me

I earn quite a bit more than you and get more in child tax credit so think much of it must be based on childcare.
My actual amount was less than the calculator too and it keeps on changing throughout the year. I've no idea how they get there calculations it really confuses me.

That sounds about right with no childcare .

I have two children but no childcare bills and I get £145. My current (part time) salary is just over £16k and I pay £120 pa into a pension. So I'd be surprised if you got £140 OP given that you earn a fair bit more than me. £90 seems right. In fact, I want to go full time in December and I calculated that I'd then be receiving about £95, and my ft salary would be mid twenties like yours.

So, it seems to add up.

£90 seems very low, I get £2010 salary is £21k with no childcare costs. I do have five dc though, three with disabilities so extra premiums.
