LOL Bugsy. I feel the same way too and yes money is worse but other than that I am resolved that being a lone parent is much much better and has vast rewards.

The 100% relentlessness is a part of it. But to be honest, I carried about 95% of that when my ex-H was around as he was such a selfish git, I did pretty much everything anyway, plus he was away 5 days a week. TBH I don't know what it would be like to have proper support or back up from a partner.

You know FloatingNAEN it's very interesting to read your post, everything you've said summarises why I don't want to meet anyone new. I'd been feeling like there must be something wrong with me! But I think, when you have a child, the only man who might be "useful" to have around is the father. Other men (apart from very rare exceptions that probably only exist in films) won't be anywhere near as committed to the children as we are, so will constantly be competing for our attention. I would hate to work hard being a Mum all day, put DS to bed, then have a bloke around wanting to chat etc when all I want to do is flop in front of the TV. And God forbid that anyone would expect me to have sex!! (DS is a very poor sleeper, I haven't slept for more than 4 hours at a stretch since August 2005)

Without wanting to sound like a ranting man-hating feminist, I think men are generally very needy, and I only had the energy to look after one before I had a child.

I don't like the idea of having a boyfriend, like the idea of sex though

that precise moment at which you have just put the kids in bed and they are asleep, you go to the fridge to make a cuppa - no milk.

It's fab, isn't it? It means no cup of tea, no drink of milk in the morning, no cereal, moans of "Oh, Mummy!"

And you want to shout, "If your dad wasn't such a cock he would still live here and there would be bloody milk so don't blame me!"

But of course, we don't
