Grandmother opened bank account without birth certificate

Apparently my ex partners Mum has opened an account for my daughter. However she has no access to her birth certificate so legally the account cannot be in my daughters name. The reason I'm annoyed is my ex partner has taken all the money my daughter was given for her christening to be put into 'her account' but she can't have an account so I'm concerned as to where this money is going as it's well known my ex partner is no good with money and blew his army compensation going out getting drunk!

If you know the bank you could pop in and suggest your dd has an account that isn't being managed legally. .

She might have bought a copy of her birth certificate?

You could open a bank account for your daughter yourself and pass on the details to your ex MIL? Tbh though, I'd be assuming your DD will never see the money

I have got a bank account for her and she does have the details, they're just awkward unfortunately
