i have two great kids who take up all my energy! (but i wouldnt have it any other way). My life though is work and kids and sometimes I think where is me in all this? I sometimes feel my personality doesnt always come out, its as if my life is on hold. I do loads with kids and friends-but there are so many things I want to learn, but have to wait until they are older and then my life will be different stage!

i certainly feel the same some times

not as a lone parent as such, but dh is in the armed forces, which has long term seperations every now and then, and whatever sort of hours, so, yeah, I do feel limited in what I can do, etc..as I feel that one of use should be there for ther Kids...regulRLY!
And think I lost mysefl and my personality about 10+ years ago and have never found it since

thanks for your replies, like you ainsmum my job is brilliant for fitting in with the kids , so i know I am very lucky to have a job like that. But im only there because I have kids. I do go out with friends (and kids come too!) so I am making the most of my life. time flies by with kids (especially weekends) so before I know it kids will be grown up and they will have their own lives. so then i can start doing what i want.

the amount of courses that i want to do-but you cant take kids is so unfair!!the only family friendly couses here are maths and english-which we dont need. its not a family friendly country is it!

I feel like this too!

Yes agree with you this is't exactly a child-friendly country so it's hard to do things whenthere is no one to leave the kids with!

I did used to feel my life was on hold a lot more when I was a SAHM and DS hadn't started nursery yet, it felt like all i did was look after him and my identity as anything but a mother had all but vanished. Now it is a bit different as I decided to change my situation and start my own buiness based on something I have an interest in, so I work from home and juggle that with being a single mum (which brings a whole host of new challenges!!). It is hard though, especially trying to find the time to do our own interests without the children, or having the energy to do anything else!

yes i too feel like this, kinda in limbo land but not sure when/if things will change either

AMAZINWOMAN · 05/03/2007 18:35

in limbo is a good way of describing how i feel-i just take each day as it comes, but really i am a focused person and prefer to have a goal.
