Self employed Ex

Hi

I've used CMS for a year now and it's due to be reviewed at the end of the month.

Yesterday I think I discovered that my Ex has set up 2 companies in addition to the job that the CMS use to work out payments. Frustratingly he has used a different name for the businesses ( I don't know how he's got away with it- but he is known by a couple of different Christian names)

My question is, do I need to let the CMS know? Will they look into it themselves?

I've checked the paperwork I got a year ago and it seems to imply that they'll be in touch if there's a claim.

Any ideas?

I would phone them and discuss it. They are pretty helpful and will be able to advise.

Definitely call your case worker and discuss, I've found them to be very helpful with things like this. Let us know how you get on.

I don't think I have his NI number anywhere. I'm going to give the CMS a call next week ( as DS and his big ears are away!!) to see what they think.

I've got a sneaky suspicion that we won't be able to do anything about it as he's got the companies in diff names so it'll be hard to prove its him ( even though I know it is, it's even his mobile number on the website!)

Hi Karma,

What I mean is appears the companies are under a diff name than the one the CMS know him as. Same surname but diff Christian name. That's where I think the CMS won't link the two

It's definitely him though as the website has his address and mobile number on it!

The name won't be important but the NI number will be the critical one. CMS should already have it as part of their checks anyway. The issue is whether the companies he has set up are using his NI number for tax purposes, my ex ran everything through his father so I reported him for tax evasion which did eventually sort everything out. Do you know when the companies were set up because it will take some time for the first tax returns to be done.

Am not trolling here but if you have been happy with the amount you have received for the last year, why would you all Of sudden need to have more money of him because he is working harder to make money? ... Am a dad of 5 the ex wife works doesn't pay anything, I gave her the house the car and complete contents of the family home, we split I left with the kids and started again from scratch and I worked for this off my own back . the point is if you have your kids and are the main parent you alone are responsible to provide and bring them up right... Crying poverty in this day and age is a joke. If I need money I work harder and longer..

The CMS will just take his word for what he tells them. If you have more details on the companies, pass them on to CMS.

No it takes one to have a baby 2 to have sex a man can not tell a woman to have an termination its her body, therefore the woman's responsible not to get pregnant in the first place ( you cant have it both ways )If you can't afford to raise your child in your care then you should not have that child. Am not a fool I've moved on with my life and don't see why I or any parent would need hand outs my kids in my care paid for by me not hand outs not the government not the ex

Lived off his money? At what point did I say that the measly amount my son receives is enough to live off?

My Ex didn't pay anything for the first 11 years of my sons life. He did however want the fun side of parenting. Why shouldn't he have to provide for an expensive teenager?

My Ex is known for fraud ( you may have guessed that with his use of different names) so I wouldn't put it past him to be hiding stuff to be able to get away with paying as little CM as possible.

Ypur ex cant be so bad u had sex with him you made a child an now you split up hes some monster? Am sorry its so little it is so hard for you but get a job go to collage get a better job. This is the problem these days everyone has a violin and wants someone to fix or pay for they choose in life. If he's so well off and your struggling then you should send your child to live with his dad and see how much you would pay ...

Don't feed the GF.

OP give them a call. They can link him through his NI number although if he's prone to a bit of fraud God knows what he's done.

And you can always send your son to live with him as per #uselessdaddave.

Cos feckless NRPS who do everything in their power to not support their kids will willingly facilitate becoming an RP with all that it entails Wink

@Lelloteddy if you choose to have ur kids and bring them up that's your choice to do, why should you force others to pay for ur decision in life ?
