I'm a single parent to one dd, age 6. Last year we got a cheap flight to the south of france, (perpignan) and stayed in a Canvas Holidays mobile home for 8 nights. The campsite was great - it had a couple of pools, kids clubs, play area, restaurant, bar and it was adjacent to the beach. Plus it was only 30 mins from the airport so we just got a taxi. If you book your flight seats really early you get a good deal and the cost of the caravan for the last week in august was £450, which i think is really good for august. (thats for the caravan in total, not per person). The campsite is within walking distance of the main resort where there is plenty of public transport about if you need it. We loved it and in fact so much - I've just booked again for next year!
If you want anymore details, just ask .

can i ask how much did it cost in total amylou? and it was self catering wasnt it?

amylou · 04/12/2006 23:45

Yes its self catering - so I paid £450 for 8 nights for the caravan and about £120 for our flights in total so £670 for 8 nights away in August.
This year I have booked my flights already for the same week and cause I booked in September when they first came out I paid about £80 for our flights return in total (as in 1 adult and 1 child).
The caravan was the most basic model but its fine - and had 2 decent bedrooms.
I flew from Manchester with bmibaby but you can fly to Perpignan from most airports I think.
If you have any more questions - just fire away - France is my pet love!

Dp ds and I got a 2 week holiday in greece for £680 that was flights included.
Last minute.com is good too.

From direct holidays btw...

I always find it works out cheaper to pay for flights and hotel or self catering acommodation seperate as they often base price on 4 adults so even with 2 adults and 2 kids prices are too much. We have flown with Ryanair a few times now as it they are local and no flight suppliments.
