Birthdays

In a few months time it'll be the first birthday that DD has had since her dad and I separated. Just wondering what others do for the day? Split the time? Spend it together (if amicable?)

We have often had their dad round to have a birthday tea- but all depends on how you/he sees the importance of birthdays. My kids' dad doesn't seem to want to have them himself, so it's never been an issue for him that they're always with me. Main thing is that there are no arguments or anything to make the DC uneasy- so whatever works for you I guess.

Not sure how old your DD is but do bare in mind unless it is in the holidays she will be often be in school...One year my DS was at school and then wanted to go to gymnastics so we basically opened presents and ate tea together.

My Ds has never seen his Dad on his birthday though so no advise

Later on this year will my my DS's first birthday since we split up. We'll plan to be together at some point during the day and I'd want presents to be be from both of us rather than this is from mum and this is from dad. As he gets older it may change but for now we are still a family of sorts, just not living together...
